Servants
These angels and demons make up most of the celestial Host. Demonic pride
has invented many other titles, like Knight or Baron or President; don't
be fooled, they all mean Servant. These titles are given out after many
years of dedicated service and bring additional abilities which further
help a Diabolical achieve his goals.
Demonic servants are expected to grovel properly before their masters. There
is a delicate balance between an appropriate grovel and an assertion of
personal dignity. A few Princes (like Haagenti) enjoy a casual relationship
with their minions, but most have had servants killed for insufficient groveling.
Prostration is a fine art, and most demons are skilled artisans when they
can swallow their pride enough to practice.
All demons have a superior -- the ruler of the Principality in which they
live. Only demons who are approved for "ground missions" leave
the depths of Hell.
Similarly, only angels who swear fealty to an Archangel may leave Heaven;
this is a further impetus for young angels, who spend much of their youth
gazing down at Earth through the corporeal viewers in the Parlimentary Groves,
to hook up with an Archangel and go about their business of helping humanity.
