June 9, 2026: All Aboard The Last Train To Bremen . . .
With Last Train To Bremen available for purchase on Warehouse 23, I wanted to write a Daily Illuminator about this beautiful game and what brought it to Possum Creek.
Caro and I have been friends since I started in TTRPGs, back when they were working on I'm Sorry Did You Say Street Magic and I was first publishing Sleepaway. I was lucky enough to get to schedule a playtest of Last Train To Bremen in 2024 the week or so before it was first released. I was immediately charmed by it. I played the Rooster (of course, no surprise for those who know me), and I was suckered in by a TTRPG that could so elegantly tell such an emotionally involved story in such a compact way. I very nearly beat the Devil in my first playthrough, an honor I'd never have again.
Since then, Last Train To Bremen has been my go-to game with my friends when we want something that's both quick to get to the table and profoundly emotional/cathartic. It combines the quick play of a board game with the stakes of my favorite prestige dramas, and every time we play it tells a different story. Caro is a brilliant designer, using techniques learned from black box theater to create something that's truly one of a kind. When Possum Creek was given the chance to publish it I couldn't snap it up faster.
I hope you all enjoy getting to bring Last Train To Bremen to the table, and remember — don't let your arrogance get the best of you. The Devil is stronger than you think.
