Pope Francis knows demonic possession is a problem on the upswing in this world, so he's encouraging priests to help combat the rising tide. Before anyone goes out to buy crucifixes and Bibles, though, he's not asking the general public to start speaking Latin at distressed persons. Hoping they make sure there's not some more down-to-Earth phenomenon behind it all, he reiterates "discernment" is the watchword and mental health professionals are the first line of defense. But men of the cloth are encouraged to make use of exorcists and not ignore this valuable resource merely because we've stumbled into the 21st century.
