Worlds and major regions are all fine and good, but when you already have the big picture and your campaign needs a narrower backdrop for adventure, it can be challenging to come up with something interesting on short notice. Even when you do, there's the inevitable risk that the players will decide that their PCs wander into a place you haven't sketched out. As any experienced GM can testify, it's just plain useful to have a collection of ready-made locations to throw in the heroes' path! That's exactly what the GURPS Locations series provides. Each installment delivers a ready-to-use scene – battlefield, building, campus, fortress, neighborhood, village, wilderness, etc. – that's at most loosely tied to a particular era or game world. It describes the location and its layout with the aid of floor plans and/or maps, and supplies any necessary details, from the security systems and walls of a building to the residents and politics of a small town. Most important, it suggests scenarios and encounters. In short, you get everything you need to use the place as scenery, an adventure, a prefab element of your game world, or even the backdrop for an entire campaign. You can never have enough ready-made locations, and we're always adding more, so be sure to visit this page once in a while to see what's new.
Many issues of Pyramid contain exciting locales, and these installments are of particular interest to Locations readers.
