For fans of the Palladium Fantasy game, the Western Empire was a nice surprise. Bill Coffin came out strong with a book in one of Palladium's less popular settings. He strikes again in record time with The Baalgor Wastelands. The traditional Palladium style is followed on several levels here, which suits the traditional Palladium fan just fine.

There are new Occupational Character Classes (O.C.C.) such as the Adrodan Minotaur's Crusaders of Light, and new Racial Character Classes (R.C.C.), such as Quorian Oneiromancers and Gosai Assassins. GM's will be well advised to look over the classes and races and see if they are appropriate for players to use. There are new monsters ranging from the subtle Thin Ones, to the overpowering Sandwyrms, creatures sure to challenge even a high level group. The Baalgor Wastelands is mapped out in tremendous detail, with more history than you can shake a stick at.

The Palladium system itself grows with rules for desert adventuring, riding animals, and the effects of weather on outdoor adventurers. This information should be in a core rule book, not thrown into a sourcebook. The Yin-Sloth Jungles also had important core rules that should be a part of any Palladium (not just fantasy) game, but we'll have to wait for that Palladium Universal Book to come out.

The new races are mostly beings summoned during the Elf-Dwarf wars. . . .
