Atlas Games is in a bit of a quandary these days. People are actually starting to buy their games. They are even starting to get positive, critical recognition for them.

After all, last year they won an actual Origins Award for their proudly iconoclastic and non-collectible card game Lunch Money. Who'd of thought SOOOO many people would have so much fun acting like they were kids beating the snot out of each other in a school yard? For pennies no less! It can only mean one of two things: Either Atlas is heading more towards the mainstream, which is truly not the case or -- more dangerously -- the rest of the world is starting to act like Atlas.

Maybe the apocalypse will come with the end of the millennium . . . if we can ever figure out when that truly is.

Of course, that leaves the guys at Atlas with the problem of how do you top something like Lunch Money? Guess what folks, it looks like they just did it with another proudly iconoclastic and non-collectible card game called Spammers.

According to Jeff Tidball, the origins of Spammers was simple enough. He had an account on AOL. That meant he had to deal with a virtual ton of e- mail scams every day before he could even consider approaching the mail he did want to read. The end result is a card game that, like Lunch Money, requires very few rules but can provide a ton of pleasure for those of a more twisted bend.

In Spammers . . .
