Frankly, much of the scenics on the market is second-rate at best. Miniature wargamers are familiar with the many Houses of the Sloping Walls they can buy in just about any scale. Then there's the Swiss Cheese factor: Even some of the best resin kits are pockmarked with air bubble holes that have to be painstakingly filled. And after a couple of hours worth of preparation, some of the models won't even take paint!

It was a 25mm ruined Greek temple, a tight circle of eight pillars (some in worse shape than others) overgrown by moss and topped with tottering blocks. An understated skull peeked out of the undergrowth. And it was a clean casting — flash was nonexistent.
It was, in short, gorgeous. And for $10, it was a bargain.
After grabbing that piece (which took little more than a dab of superglue to construct), I ordered a couple more Grendel packs: a $10 group of standing stones, and a ruined Acropolis (boxed, $26), a much more lavish affair than the simple temple. Both items had the same clean . . .
