The place is Europe, the time is 1195. An entire continent plunged in darkness, bathed in blood, and ruled by a distant elite. Humanity spends her days laboring under the light of the sun and her nights huddled around feeble candlelight to ward against the power of the night. The Church is the ultimate expression of the presence of God on Earth, and even Kings must bend to its will. These are the dark ages, a time of terrible ignorance and unshakable faith. Against this dark background roam the Children of Caine, the damned undead. In this time they roam the world in unprecedented numbers. Some even live in plain view of the mortal world, arrogantly ruling over mortal domains. The inquisition has yet to be visited upon vampire-kind, so the Masquerade is a distant nightmare . . .

Vampire: The Dark Ages is White Wolf's newest and freshest release in its successful Vampire line of game products. Unlike the many supplements and source books which are so prevalent in roleplaying games today, Vampire: The Dark Ages is an entire game unto itself. Indeed, I had never even played a game of Vampire: The Masquerade before, but I was perfectly able (and more than eager) to play with just this one book.

What White Wolf's several successful game series have done for the roleplaying world, Vampire: The Dark Ages does for its World . . .
