Organized Play Drops Living City

Ryan Dancey, CEO of Organized Play, sent out the following statement:

"Dear Living City participants;

In the summer of 2001, I licensed the Living City of Ravens Bluff from Wizards of the Coast, and my company, OrganizedPlay, assumed the day to day management and oversight of the campaign.

We supported Living City with a cadre of paid staff who traveled to conventions, dealt with the administrative details of the campaign, and handled customer service issues including the final stages of the 3.0 conversion process. We developed a new business model for Living City based on player participation fees. We built and maintained a new dedicated Living City web site that featured on-line tools for registration, renewal, event scheduling, a master calendar, scenario downloading, and table reporting. We developed and released nearly 60 new scenarios. We traveled to conventions large and small, all across the US.

During this period we met hundreds of active Living City players. We listened to your feedback on mailing lists, web sites, and in person. We tried to understand what was working in Living City and what was not working, to preserve the successes and try to address the issues that we found in our conversations with the players and Judges. We worked on developing a strong Ethical Guidelines process and instituted an Ethics Board to address concerns with cheating and falsification of certs.
