32-page saddle-stitched book; $9.95
Emergency Response is the first scenario to be released for one of 2002's many new superhero RPGs, Silver Age Sentinels, also available as Silver Age Sentinels -- d20 Edition. The contents of this 32-page book are designed for a group of three to five average-powered characters from either version of the game. This means approximately 150-point character for both the Tri-Stat rules and the d20 System rules. The adventure comes in two parts and should give such a sized party two or three solid sessions of roleplaying.
Behind the rather unimpressive front cover, Emergency Response is well laid out and decently organized. Thankfully, the internal artwork is much better than the cover and is mainly used to illustrate the majority of the adventure's various villains and protagonists. Each of these NPCs receives a full set of character statistics for both games, arranged neatly into just the one box, with the Tri-Stat values for attributes, skills and defects being listed on the left hand side of the box, and those for the d20 system being given on the right. The effect of this is to keep the book's dual system nature quite quiet and please devotees who prefer one system to the other. With a full and detailed description for every NPC -- along with the two sets of statistics, Emergency . . .
