Whereas the majority of The Slayer's Guide titles have focused upon a single species, the latest and 16th entry in Mongoose Publishing's inaugural series instead looks at an entire class of creatures. Plus Mongoose Publishing also got the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons -- Gary Gygax (along with Jon Creffield) -- to pen The Slayer's Guide to the Undead, much as they did with their earlier collaboration, The Slayer's Guide to Dragons. Indeed, it takes all of the various types of Undead from the MM, and as is the series' purpose, attempts to reinvigorate them into a threat that will have both players and characters quaking in their boots.
Compared to other Slayer's Guides, this one feels thinner and not as sturdy, which is a surprise given that it is double their usual length. Much of this can be put down to the use of a lighter paper stock. The layout is generally clean and tidy, but on the odd occasion, the placement of the art does impinge upon the text, a problem that has plagued other Mongoose books. Also, the look of The Slayer's Guide to the Undead is let down by the range of interior art. . . .
