Over a thousand years ago, the ceaseless wave of Gar'Udok's undead army advanced across the Northern lands, destroying everything in its path like a plague of locusts. Gar'Udok's war of conquest was finally stopped by a confederation of allied races, and the necromancer killed. Yet his legacy lives on in the form of spells he created, monsters he crafted, artifacts he unearthed, and minions he tutored. This book explores that dark legacy.

Necromancer's Legacy, or more properly The Compleat Librum ov Gar'Udok's Necromantic Arts, is the newest release in Ambient d20's Arcane Mysteries series as released by Mystic Eye Games. It is an expanded version of the electronic, Ennie-award-nominated original of the same name and, as the title hints at, covers the dark necromantic arts, and in glorious depth at that.

The cover features a beautiful and haunting painting by Jhoniel Centeno that manages to capture the mood of the text perfectly. Similarly, the interior artwork, with but a few exceptions, is very good and directly relates to the text. Layout is profession and utilitarian; nothing particularly fancy, but solid just the same. The horrific page borders, consisting of piles of leering skulls, are a great touch.

Some clear problems soon emerge, however. The stylized font used for headings throughout the book is more distracting than attractive, and in some cases, letters are almost unintelligible. . . .
