This is not a review of one product so much as two, the first being a prequel to the second. That first is The Serpent Amphora, a 13-page scenario available from the Swords & Sorcery Studio website as a 510kb Adobe Acrobat PDF file. Its direct sequel is Serpent in the Fold -- Serpent Amphora Cycle, Book One; both are set in the Swords & Sorcery campaign setting of the Scarred Lands, more specifically in the northeast of the continent of Ghelspad. To get the fullest out of the pair, the DM will need access to a number of the publisher's sourcebooks, though more so for Serpent in the Fold. These include the Creature Collection, Relics & Rituals, Creature Collection II: Dark Menagerie, and Relics & Rituals 2: Lost Core. In addition, the DM may want to have Secrets and Societies and the Gazetteer: Ghelspad on hand as well.
The Scarred Lands received its name because two centuries before the gods rebelled against their Titan parents and sparked the Divine War; the Titans were wont to shape the world to their will without regard for its mortal inhabitants. Thus the Titans threatened the followers of the gods and thus their own survival. To ensure their survival, the gods went to war, and the land was rent in places and thrust up in others. . . .
