Cheapass has Brom Button Men! Cheapass has Brom Button Men! OK, let me calm down a minute. I want to say first that I am a huge Button Men fan and I really like Brom's art. So you can just imagine how excited I was when I got the newest Button Men expansion. As the name implies, the new Button Men feature art by the artist Brom. If that name does not ring a bell with you, his work figured prominently in TSR's Dark Sun campaign setting (and contributed a lot to its success). It has a gritty, punky style that just looks great on a button. There are a total of 12 new button fighters in this expansion, and they are contained in the now familiar format of two buttons plus rules to a zip-lock baggie.
The most important thing about this expansion, except for the great Brom art, is the fact that it features rules for all those wild and wonderful dice and die types that we have come to expect. In addition to both types of Swing Dice, you also get Shadow Dice, which were originally introduced in the Vampyres expansion, and two new die types, Poison Dice and Poison Shadow Dice.
If you have not seen any of the recent Button Men expansions, here is a quick breakdown of the new rules. There is a new "V" type of Swing Dice. "V" Swing Dice are like regular "X" Swing Dice except that they must be a 6, 8, 10 or 12-sider. This is a clever way of allowing a player to have some freedom . . .
