It took our agents months to fake them.
There are actually two sets of photos. One set were shot here on a secret location here on Earth (or as it is known in the trade "The Dirt") and digitally altered to appear as if they were taken on Mars. The other set were actually taken on Mars, but have had the aliens carefully edited out.
