Supported Microsoft Operating Systems

GURPS Character Assistant is only supported officially on Microsoft Windows.

When installing GURPS Character Assistant, you may need to give explicit permission for the software to install, if Windows calls it "unsigned" or "unsafe." (Code signing is prohibitively expensive for small-publisher software such as this.)

* To install GURPS Character Assistant on Windows 7, you may need to update your .Net runtime files. If your system does not include the .Net framework, GCA currently requires version 4.6; you can download the necessary installer from Microsoft here.

Linux Support

Although not officially supported, several testers have reported success installing and running on Linux, using Wine. For those looking to experiment, the most-successful installation used the Windows 7 container (the default) using Wine 6.18, ran the installer within that, then added .NET 4.61. (Printing functionality may not be available, depending on driver-compatibility.) User-to-user assistance may be found on the GURPS Character Assistant Forum.

OS X Support

It is unlikely that this software will run on newer Macs that use the M1 (or later) chips, but it should be possible to run on older Intel Macs using the usual methods for running Windows on those Macs. User-to-user assistance may be found on the GURPS Character Assistant Forum.
