FnordCon Convention Rules

TL;DR — Be nice . . . Don't be the reason we have to make more rules.

Terms of Purchase: By purchasing a ticket or volunteering to attend FnordCon, you and any other ticket holders purchasing tickets via your account agree to this code of conduct, FnordCon standards, rules, regulations, terms, and conditions. Failure to comply could result in expulsion from the convention without refund. By purchasing a ticket to attend FnordCon, you understand and agree that you may be photographed or recorded for social media purposes.

Rules and Regulations

Attendees must comply with all laws, ordinances, and regulations of the country, state, county, city facility, and whenever applicable – police and fire departments.
We will be requiring compliance with all state and local Covid precautions. This currently includes masks and proof of vaccination for an event of our size. Requirements could change before the show, but we'll be requiring masks and proof of vaccination at a minimum. Please do not show up without this proof, because you will not be allowed to enter. There will be no refunds.
Attendees are expressly prohibited from carrying any type of real or real-appearing weapon at the convention; violation may result in removal from the event without refund.
Please wear your convention badge at all times. Event staff will not allow you into the convention area without it.
No animals allowed. ADA working animals (only) are allowed in the convention space.
Please be on time for events for which you have signed up. If you are late to an event you may not be allowed to participate. Please check into your meeting area/table 5 minutes early if possible.
Only Steve Jackson Games' titles, Fireside Games' titles, or titles officially licensed by Steve Jackson Games may be played inside the event space until 6pm each day. After that time, other games may be played. Loud or "adult" games will be restricted to one ballroom.
Please respect everyone's privacy and space if they are hosting, playing a game, or otherwise engaged. (See the Anti-Harassment Policy below for more information.)
FnordCon, Steve Jackson Games, and the venue are not responsible for lost/stolen property. This includes any backpacks or luggage items that are voluntarily placed in storage area(s).
Individuals who appear to be intoxicated will not be allowed into the convention space.
Minors 13 and up must be paid attendees; minors under 13 do not have to pay and will not be issued badges. All minors (that is, anyone under the age of 18) must be accompanied at all times by an adult guardian who is a paid member of FnordCon. If you have a screaming, crying, or otherwise upset child, please do your fellow attendees a favor and take the child out of the convention area to address the issue.

Anti-Harassment Policy
FnordCon is dedicated to providing a harassment-free convention experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, politics, or preference in gaming system. We do not tolerate harassment of our participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any venue. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled [without a refund] at the discretion of the organizers.

Harassment includes verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, and/or religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender, expulsion (with no refund), and/or the involvement of local law enforcement.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the convention staff immediately. [Staff can be identified by staff shirts and/or badges.] Guests may request that a staff member of a particular gender handle their situation if they are more comfortable. Staff will be happy to help participants contact local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.

Expulsion / Banning Policy
Steve Jackson Games reserves the right to expel, ban, permanently ban, or take any other action/remedy as deemed appropriate for any guest, attendee, volunteer, or other person or persons for any reason.

In the event that one of our staff, volunteers, guests, or attendees is assaulted, harassed, stalked, or otherwise mistreated, we will do our best to de-escalate the situation and ensure the safety of all parties. We reserve the right to contact emergency services as appropriate or required by law. It is our desire that all attendees have a safe and fun convention-going experience!

Terms and Conditions:
Steve Jackson Games reserves the right to require the alteration or removal of any article or activity brought into the convention that is deemed objectionable in nature or offensive to the average person attending the convention and shall not be held liable for loss, damage, or injury resulting from alteration, omission, or rejection of said material. Attendees agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Steve Jackson Games against any and all claim for such loss, damage, or injury. Attendees will be given a reasonable period of time in which to consider any changes required by convention staff and may withdraw material. Steve Jackson Games is not responsible for any injury to attendees or damage to or theft of property from any causes prior to, during, or subsequent to FnordCon. Attendees hereby expressly agree to indemnify and hold harmless Steve Jackson Games against any and all claims for such loss, damage, or injury. Steve Jackson Games reserves the right to cancel arrangements or contracts or expel an attendee whenever it is deemed necessary for the safety or comfort of those attending the convention or whenever portions of the convention site are destroyed or damaged. Likewise Steve Jackson Games reserves the right to cancel arrangements or contracts if the convention fails to take place as scheduled, is interrupted and/or discontinued, or access to the premises is prevented or interfered with by the reason of any strike, lock out, act of war, act of God, emergency declared by government agency or event management, or for any other reason that terminates this contract. In the event of such termination, attendees waive all claims of damages and agree that the sole liability of Steve Jackson Games is the entry fee paid, less a pro rata portion of all costs and expenses incurred and committed to, by Steve Jackson Games. Attendees must comply with all laws of the United States as well as all applicable state or local ordinances, rules and requirements of police and fire departments or other authorities of such jurisdictions, will obtain all necessary permits and licenses with respect to their activities, and will not do or suffer to be done anything during the term of this agreement in violation of any such laws, ordinances, rules, or regulations. If the attention of said attendee is called to any such violation committed by said attendee, said attendee will immediately desist and correct, or cause to be corrected, such violation. Attendees agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Steve Jackson Games from any and all costs, suits, and legal proceedings alleging violations of any such law or regulation.

All matters and questions not covered by this agreement and these terms are subject to the decision of Steve Jackson Games. Attendees agree to abide by and conform to all additional rules and regulations from time to time adopted or prescribed by FnordCon and Steve Jackson Games for the management of the convention. Attendees acknowledge that they have read the preceding terms and conditions, expressly agree to comply with them, and authorize FnordCon and Steve Jackson Games to enforce them.
